From The Mouths of Babes / Del Mundo de los Pequeños

As adults in January 2022, we were finding it hard to be optimistic about the present, let alone the future. It is a tough time, we know. But as an artist once sang, “I believe the children are our future.”, so we asked our “future”, the children of our Tuesday After ‘Cool class, what the future looks like for them. They left us all with great hope…and a few joyful laughs!

What are you looking forward to the most in 2022?

2nd grader Emma quickly replied, “Being artistic”, which made us all proud and excited! 8-year-old Michael said “Acting and riding roller coasters again!” which really thrilled other kids into shouting “Woo-Hoo!”. 3rd grader Ariani had us feeling playful when she answered, “Playing with my new puppy.”

If there is one thing you could have in 2022, what would it be?

They all shouted, “World Peace!” …well, not exactly. 9-year-old Jayner said “A new computer, because my old one is, well, OLD!” With technology changing so quickly, computers become old very quickly, we feel you Jayner! Our friend and animal lover 2nd grader Paula had only one wish, “To have a new fish friend for my fish tank”. At this rate, she’ll have an ocean in her room soon! But still, we all hope her Fish Wish is granted.

What is your message to the world in 2022?

Our students left us hopeful, with their own words. A message of positivity came from 3rd grader Giselle, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.”. 9-year-old Aaron had us all in our feels when he answered, “Wherever you go, keep your family and loved ones close to your heart.”, which everyone agreed on. And finally, 8-year-old Jaaziel’s answer had us cheering when he said, “Make more good food!”, and left us all hungry for a great 2022 and future!

Como adultos, en enero de 2022, nos resultaba difícil ser optimistas sobre el presente, y mucho menos sobre el futuro. Es un momento difícil, lo sabemos. Pero como alguna vez cantó un artista, "Creo que los niños son nuestro futuro", entonces le preguntamos a nuestro "futuro", a los niños de nuestra clase de After 'Cool de los martes, cómo es el futuro para ellos. Nos dejaron a todos con una gran esperanza… ¡y algunas sonrisas de felicidad!

¿Qué es lo que más esperas del 2022?

La alumna de segundo grado Emma respondió rápidamente: "Ser artista", lo que nos enorgulleció y emocionó a todos. Michael, de 8 años, dijo: “¡Actuar y subirme a la montaña rusa otra vez!”. lo que realmente emocionó a otros niños para que gritaran "¡Yu ju!". La alumna de tercer grado, Ariani, nos hizo sentir juguetones cuando respondió: "Jugar con mi nuevo perrito".

Si hay algo que podrías tener en 2022, ¿qué sería?

Todos gritaron: “¡La paz mundial!”. …Bueno, no exactamente. Jayner, de 9 años, dijo: “¡Una computadora nueva, porque la anterior es… bueno, vieja!” Con la tecnología cambiando tan rápido, las computadoras envejecen muy rápido, ¡te entendemos, Jayner! Nuestra amiga y amante de los animales, Paula, estudiante de segundo grado, solo tenía un deseo: "Tener un nuevo amiguito para mi pecera". ¡A este ritmo, pronto tendrá un océano en su habitación! Pero aún así, todos esperamos que se le conceda su deseo.

¿Cuál es tu mensaje para el mundo en el 2022?

Nuestros alumnos nos dejaron esperanzados, con sus palabras. Un mensaje de positividad vino de Giselle, estudiante de tercer grado, "Trata a los demás como quieres que te traten a ti". Aarón, de 9 años, nos sentir algo a todos cuando respondió: "Dondequiera que vayas, mantén a tu familia y seres queridos cerca de tu corazón", y todos estuvimos de acuerdo. Y finalmente, la respuesta de Jaaziel, de 8 años, nos animó cuando dijo: "¡Hagan más comida rica!", ¡y nos dejó a todos hambrientos de un gran 2022 y del futuro!
