TYA Takeaways from Latino Alliance Now Convening
My Takeaways from TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) break out session
at Latino Theater Alliance/LA Convening on Saturday, August 2, 2014
by Cindy Marie Jenkins, Communications Director
1. Children are resilient, intelligent & can handle stories/themes based in reality (Debbie Devine & Jose Casas) 2. It's important for young people to see themselves and the demographics of the country on stage (John Glore & Mireya Hepner) 3. Theatre WITH Youth plays a key role in developing confidence and can also contribute to appreciation of history (Rose Portillo) 4. TYA still has a long way to go towards honoring and developing the minds of young people, but the will exists to elevate its appreciation in our cultural world.
