Module 4: Tell Your Story
Create Your Own Audio Drama
(60 min)
In small groups or as a class, select a scene from a familiar short story or narrative poem.
Using the AUDIO DRAMA student worksheet as a guide, determine key elements of your audio drama:
What is the theme of your story?
Who are the major characters? What do they want? What do they need?
Is there a narrator?
How will you communicate emotion using sounds, music, and dialogue?
Write a few lines of dialogue for two of your characters. *Remember that dialogue is a conversation, but also communicates needs, emotions, and moves the story forward.
What sound effects do you need?
What ambient sounds do you need to include to communicate the setting?
Will you include music? How do your music cues communicate mood or serve as transition within the scene?
Invite students to record and share their audio drama.
